Hotel Vuoskumella wilderness cabin is located in Näkkälä, Enontekiö, on the shores of Lake Tuorkottajajärvi, surrounded by fells.

From the village of Näkkälä, there is a summer path about 6 kilometers to the cabin. In winter, you can take a more direct path along the lakes, then the distance is about 4 kilometers. You can ask from us about transportation to the cabin. Näkkälä is a small Sámi village whose main occupation is reindeer herding. There are about twenty permanent residents. Näkkälä is located on the edge of vast wilderness. The Norwegian border is about 10 km away.

The cabin has great views of the fells and good hiking opportunities all year round. An excellent option for ice-fishing and lure fishing. The good hunting grounds around also allow for willow grouse hunting. 

Hotel Vuoskumella is a wilderness cabin, meaning no electricity or running water. The cabin was built in the 1980s and is 16m2 in size. The cabin has a one room with two beds. There is a stove for heating and a gas stove for cooking. The cabin has its own sauna and boat. The boat is for three people and can accommodate a small outboard motor. We do not rent motors. The cabin has a composting toilet.

The cabin has mattresses and pillows. Dishes and cooking utensils. There is a pit for cold storage of food. There is a stream near the cabin. The water has not been tested. The lake water is drinkable but has not been tested. The shore is shallow, drill ice hole at least 50 meters away in winter. 

Clean the cabin and the surroundings when you leave. We will charge €250 for failure to clean. The rental period starts at 2pm on the day of arrival and ends at 11am on the day of departure. Send a message or call when you are going to the cabin.

The wood in the shed is intended for heating the cabin and sauna. Burn twigs in the outdoor fireplace. Making your own fireplaces is prohibited. The yard and beach are in a natural state and we would like it to remain that way. There is no furniture in the yard. 

Good to know: 

There is no ice drill in the cabin. 

Elisa telephone connections do not work everywhere in Näkkälä. Telia works great.

The cabin is not preheated without a separate agreement. 

In the summer, there are sometimes a lot of mosquitoes and midges in Lapland. Be prepared for them as well. Bring your own mosquito net, it will ensure a good night's sleep. 

In the winter, it takes time to heat up the freezing cold cabin. In severe frosts, the gas stove may malfunction. So take your own stove with you just in case. However, do not use camping stoves indoors. 

Fishing permits for Tuorkottajajärvi and other lakes are sold by Metsähallitus, i.e. eraluvat.fi or the Fell Lapland Nature Centre.
